Specialised 3D Basketball Training

Innovative Sports Concepts combines centuries of old concepts of Tai Chi, Meditation, Qi Gong, Yoga and the teachings and philosophies of the Shaolin Temple and merging it with modern day basketball in terms of dynamics, skills, techniques, strategies and tactics. It also combines modern day Exercise Science and Ancient Olympic philosophies (why were the Olympic Games created? To gain awareness of how the mind, body and soul are connected).

Reversal Mirror Training

This is a low impact training concept. It’s not about going faster but learning how to take a skill or technique and take it back to the point of origin, through slow, controlled movements. Once that correct pattern has been re-established, then you can begin to speed it up. The skills in basketball are found in every other sport. By understanding how a ball travels around the body and how the body travels around the ball, the skills of other sports become easier to understand. This is reminiscent of how the celestial bodies move around each other through the laws of gravity.

Basketball Without The Ball

The 3 dimensional aspect of internal basketball focuses on the athlete developing internally through:

  • Breathing
  • Motion
  • Vision
  • Footwork
  • Rhythm

    Once you grasp these concepts then the learning of basketball becomes more simplified. Then you proceed to learn the dynamics of the game. Basketball is a multi-dimensional game with a range of skills that can be utilised to enhance certain skills in a number of other sports:
  • Rugby – specific ball handling/fingertip control with a focus on hand-eye coordination.
  • Sports requiring a swing action (golf, tennis, cricket) – mirrored by swinging the basketball (rip) from one side of the body to another.
  • Football – There is a myriad of foot movement in offensive and defensive basketball that can transfer across to football.
  • Shot put and discuss – The spin dribble can transfer to the wind up before the throw.
